With the “Avec le Temps” (“Over Time”) series, Philippe Pastor continues his experimentation, pitting the organic nature of forms against pre-established drawing, natural chaos against the clarity of the manmade. This series makes an indirect reference to the destructive and particularly deadly breaker wave of the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia. After the shockwave, memories fade and indifference sets in, to the point where nothing seems sufficient to make people change their attitudes. Here, the relationship with nature is reinvented and, much like certain artists and activists, the landscape is gradually transformed into theatres of operations. In the area of art, nature is no longer simply representative, it becomes an active subject.
